Dr Euan Lawson is a senior academic GP at Lancaster Medical School. He has worked in substance misuse services in the community and prison settings for over 15 years. He is a senior editor at the British Journal of General Practice and was formerly the editor-in-chief at the Harm Reduction Journal.

He has worked with the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Substance Misuse Management in General Practice (SMMGP) networks developing policy and training resources, particularly around opiate substitution therapy and hepatitis C. He writes regularly in the academic press and presents at conferences on evidence-based practice for people who use drugs with a particular emphasis on physical health complications and complex co-morbidities. He is currently working in treatment services in Blackpool.
